Teaching is hard...we are trying to keep kids alive, teach them, and keep ourselves organized. I used to feel as though I could stay at school all night long and still not be ready for the next day! Now that my kids are school-aged, they come over to my building at the end of the day, and this adds a layer of CHAOS to my afternoons. To help TAME the STRUGGLE, I have complied a list of 5 things I [try] to do at the end of each day. Hopefully you will find it … [Read more...]
Bulletin Board: New Year, New Books
Happy New Year! What a whirlwind this year has been! In third grade we are forging forward but we are still feeling the effects of the past few years on our students. We are teaching so many SEL lessons and teaching kids how to interact with each other in positive ways! It sure makes for busy days. This past week I kept staring at the 12 Days of Kindness Bulletin Board that I had put up in December, and I knew that I needed to do something about it. I … [Read more...]

It started off as just decoration and doing some baseball math activities, but over the years it has grown into so much more! A Few Days … [Read more...]
Extension Activities to Make Fractions More Fun
This month I wanted to share some ways that I make learning fractions more fun in my classroom! I have several activities that my students love to make during our small group time. I find that the more we practice in fun ways, the better my students learn and retain fractions skills. Real World Fraction Crafts: Fractions Greater Than One I created these food fraction activities out of necessity! Fractions greater than one ONLY make sense if … [Read more...]
Read Across America Week

Some of the books we read were books on inclusion of others and kindness. We were also learning about different rights and responsibilities of citizens so we incorporated some deeper texts as well. We put out a flier for our students that included a week of simple activities that we would … [Read more...]
