Happy New Year! What a whirlwind this year has been! In third grade we are forging forward but we are still feeling the effects of the past few years on our students. We are teaching so many SEL lessons and teaching kids how to interact with each other in positive ways! It sure makes for busy days.
This past week I kept staring at the 12 Days of Kindness Bulletin Board that I had put up in December, and I knew that I needed to do something about it. I was racking my brain trying to think of something witty or catchy…NOTHING CAME TO ME….so then I tried to think of something that would be useful.
I decided that I was going to do a BOOK RECOMMENDATION bulletin board. My students seem very limited to the series that they like, and they rarely branch out. I have some kids L-I-T-E-R-A-L-L-Y waiting for Dav Pilkey and Jeff Kinney to write books! After poking around my own classroom library and our school library, here is what I came up with!
I am happy to report that over the past few days I have seen several kids stopped in the hallway looking at the different options. One even asked if I had “Chicken Squad” books in my classroom. Little victories.
I have added the PDF file for you to print everything you need for this bulletin board. It is mostly print, cut and staple it up. I included the letters too…and you can pick the colors to print them on. Hopefully it will help you SAVE SOME TIME and INSPIRE little readers. Grab it in the Free Resource Library.
