Easter Week: Use plastic eggs to your advantage! I don’t know what it is, but when I cut up questions that we were going to do on a worksheet and stuff them in plastic eggs, kids go wild!
This week we are studying for our math test on fractions, so I am cutting up fraction questions (you could even use paper task cards) and putting them around the room in plastic eggs.
I always fight for a “review game” day when we are in meetings doing our pacing calendars for the year. You can see another way I like to review here. I think that it is SO important to do a fun practice activity at the end of every unit before students settle in to complete an assessment independently.
So much can be gained from working with a partner or a team to complete questions at the end of a unit. Not only does it help kids complete independent practice, but it also helps them identify which skills they still need to practice. By giving them a partner (and explaining how to work with a partner), students are given support in completing their review.
Some of the review games I do include Jeopardy, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Connect 4 (FREE template in our FREE Resource Library), Whole-Class Board Game on the SmartBoard, Math Passport, and Easter Egg Hunt.
When we do a review game, I try to keep them simple without a lot of prep. I also take notes and file them away for the following year to keep it SIMPLE!
You can grab the Fraction Review Game that we are playing with our classes this week! The FREEBIES include questions that can be printed and cut. Once cut up, they can go in plastic easter eggs and placed around the room. You will also get the recording sheet for students to record their answers on. We are going to pair this review game with our Connect Four game. All of these FREEBIES can be found in our Free Resource Library so be sure to subscribe to our mailing list!
