February is on its way out, so I am starting to think about what we are going to be doing for the upcoming month. It seems wild to be thinking about March already, but it is just a few days away. Here are some of the things that I pulled to get ready for St. Patrick’s Day.
Area Houses
These area houses make a great craft during my small group time. It really is “Print and Go,” even though it looks like it might involve some prep. You can read more about them here. The kids LOVE to choose the rooms they want and then organize them on construction paper. I have found that the recording sheet helps the class keep the math task in their minds as they work.
St. Patrick’s Day Fact Family Houses
These fact family houses are a lot of fun and they make a great bulletin board. I know that my coworkers in first grade love the Addition and Subtraction version. I copy a big stack and cut the windows out with an Xacto knife and then pass them out. This helps kids save time while cutting.
Area 3D Craft for St. Patrick’s Day
Since we are working on area in math, these St. Patrick’s Day Area math crafts are going to be done during my small group time. I love to have one group making a craft of some sort, and these ones are always a hit! Anytime I can stick math in a craft, I find kids look forward to this center and they also sometimes ask to do more than one! I have made these ones with different degrees of difficulty so that I can differentiate depending on the group. There are some with the grid lines, some for multiplying side lengths, some with story problems involving area, and some with the area of joined rectangles.
Multiplication and Division 3D Craft: St. Patrick’s Day
If you are looking for some Multiplication and Division practice, these might work for you. These include multiplication and division fact practice, as well as problem-solving. Students love that they stand up when they are finished.
FREEBIE: Addition and Subtraction with Regrouping Food
These guys are too cute not to share! These quick and easy 3D wrap crafts are so much fun and will give me the grades I need when it comes to adding and subtracting with regrouping! I love that I can collect some grades of previous skills in a fun way. Grab them for free in our FREE Resource Library!
St. Patrick’s Multiplication Color By Code
These multiplication color-by-code sheets are good to have for fast finishers or my “May Do” side of my board during small group time. Kids love to solve and then color in the pictures! They are differentiated, so kids can do the 0-5’s facts or the 0-11’s facts!
Skills Practice Sheets
These are some skills sheets that I hope to use over the next few weeks to check in with kids before we get to our next report cards. I find these activities to be helpful to look at skills we aren’t currently teaching. They help kids keep their skills sharp and not forget important skills! Kids also love these Spin, Multiply and Draw Sheets to practice their multiplication fluency.
I hope you have a great end to February and start to March!
