Teacher tip for this week: Get some 10 sided dice! If you don’t have 10 sided dice already, you can grab some on Amazon pretty inexpensively. These dice have numbers 0-9 on them and are perfect for so many different activities. This week, we did place value games where students had to roll the die and record a number as a digit of a large number. Some rounds the numbers they rolled had to make the largest number. Other rounds they had to make the smallest number.
We use these 10 sided dice for so many different games and activities that involve place value, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, fractions and more! So if you don’t have 10 sided dice….go grab some!
Math Fluency Practice That Kids Love
This week, I wanted to share something that my students love. During our small group time, one of my centers usually includes some fact fluency practice. I try to find ways to make it fun for the kids by incorporating technology, games, or art.
I have pulled together a huge binder of all different fact practice games and activities for this station. Each week I pull one out. I love the activities that I can easily tailor to the group that will be at the station on that particular day (ex. one group might be practicing their 3’s facts while another group might be doing 6’s & 7’s).
One that the kids LOVE to see is Spin, Multiply, and Draw. Since kids seem to love the directed drawings, incorporating drawing into math has been a real winner!
Freebie of The Week
Grab this FREEBIE here to try these out with your class! I promise they will be hooked! Kids can do it independently at their seats, around the room, or with a partner (alternating turns spinning and solving). I especially love the excitement of the class as they play. If you love it, there are more here in my TpT store.
Have a great weekend! Take a deep breath and try to squeeze in some time for yourself!
