Looking for a fun and interactive way to review for a math test? Well, here’s a game-changing idea that not only makes learning enjoyable but also fosters teamwork. To prep, start by placing a hundred chart at the front of the room (or project the free picture below). Copy and cut your review questions into separate piles, one for each question number. Divide the class into teams of 2-3 students each.
Equip each team with a clipboard and send them to one of the question stacks. Working together, they tackle the problems and bring their solutions to the teacher for verification. If correct, they earn a post-it note. Have them write their names or team number on it. The real excitement comes as they place their post-it on one of the numbers on the hundred chart.
At the end of the review, use a Google random number generator to select a few lucky numbers. Those students or teams receive a coveted “No Homework Pass” – a reward that turns the review into both a learning experience and a chance for a little extra relaxation. I always staple their review questions together so they can take them home to review!
My class was pumped to get as many post its as they could! Our principal walked in near the end and she was smiling at the sight of kids HIGHLY motivated to complete as much math as possible!
