YOU ARE A ROCK STAR!
Can you believe it? What a year! The year is coming to a close (or might have closed out for some already). I don’t know about you, but I am SO READY for summer! It has been a year to remember for sure! I loved having the chance to try something new…in a trial by fire kind of way…but I am happy to take a nice long break!
I quickly jotted down this Top 10 List! I would love to hear if you can relate!
The Top 10 Things I Won’t Miss About Distance Learning
10. Having to look at my Google Meet/Zoom schedule to determine whether I am getting dressed, doing my hair or putting on makeup that day.
9. Laying down in my bed at night and realizing I haven’t posted the video for the next day…and having to get back out to post it
8. Saying “Make sure your mic is muted” 305834902 times
7. Praying Disney+ isn’t glitchy during my many meetings (so that it will keep the kids in a zombie like state until I am off my call)
6. Receiving messages that “____________ is requesting access to this video” and then 23 subsequent emails asking why the video won’t work…so.many.emails.
5. Students turning in blank assignments or just clicking “turn in” without even opening it.
4. Worrying about the kids that were making so much great growth before we started staying home…and now they seem to have fallen off the cliff
3. Having no boundaries between home and school
2. My 3 year old streaking across the screen in his underwear during my Google Meets
1. Helping kids in person….the kids
In all honesty, it was a mixed bag. I was grateful to get to spend time with my own kids at home (3 and 5 years old). Stefanie was thrilled to spend more time with her daughter (almost one year old :)). But the struggle was REAL. It was challenging on all levels. It was not the job we all signed up for. It was changing by the moment, but we did it! and we did it well!
Keep up the great work teachers! Make sure you take a break from your computer. Get outside. Go to the beach. Stop thinking about school (even if it is just for a little while). Try not to think about the CRAZINESS that more than likely waits for us in the fall.
Cheers!
