At our school we do a big Veterans Day Assembly. It is absolutely beautiful. Kids bring their “adults” who are veterans and the school honors them by singing, playing instruments, reading written pieces, and more. There’s a slideshow that shows veterans past and present. I cry almost every single year.
Veterans Day Agamographs
Every year we have our classes create these Veterans Day Agamographs to put on display. They take a little bit of time and patience, but THE. KIDS. LOVE. IT. It is great for fine motor practice and it 100% wows them every time! I give a quick lesson on fan-folding (hard to believe that kids these days rarely know how to make a paper fan). When they are finished, I make a bulletin board of them or hang them leading to the assembly.
Veterans Day Addition and Subtraction Wraps
Another thing we are going to do this week is work on these Veterans Day math wraps! The kids love to make them and then they sit on their desks or that back counter. These ones include addition, subtraction, and mixed. There are 9 different types for easy differentiation. They include 2 and 3 digit addition and subtraction (with and without regrouping). If you grab them in the next 48 hours, they are 50% off!
Have a great week!
